FUTURE
EVENTS
As always, the Branch Committee are investigating topics for the future. If you have suggestions for events or visits, please do not hesitate to let The Branch Secretary know and we will follow any ideas up. Equally, if you have a particular skill or specialism that you think will be helpful/educational to your colleagues; we shall be pleased to hear it!
We have the following confirmed but please keep a regular watch on this page for additions.
Thursday 29 July 2010
Following interest by many members, we have been able to arrange an afternoon presentation by members of Sussex Police on the implications of the Road Death Investigation Manual for highway engineers. This will provide a valuable insight into how road collisions are investigated not only the behaviour of the driver(s) involved but taking a wider view of the highways condition and reported defects. More information is available by downloading
this pdf file.
Wednesday 15th September - Visit to A3 Hindhead Improvement Project We have been fortunate to gain permission for a further, and possibly last, visit to the A3 site before it opens next year. Watch this space for more information to be published relating to booking arrangements.
Thursday 21 October 2010
Last year, a group of members visited Epsom Coaches premises and had an interesting tour of the facilities. Since that visit, a major re-development of the site has been undertaken which vastly improves the ability for the company to provide a more reliable and safer service to the community. We have an opportunity to make a return visit to view these changes of which the company is rightly proud. More information will follow in due course.
Tuesday 23rd November - Presentation by Signfix Ltd
This promises to be an interesting look at passive roadside sign fixings that promote safety for road users. Again, watch this space for more information.
26th November 2010 – Wine & Wisdom Charity Quiz.
Our popular and competitive event will be held this year to support The Park School, Woking. The school offers places to 100 children aged from 11 to 16 years from the surrounding area. All the children have varying degrees of learning and communication difficulties and our donation will assist the school by providing that ‘little extra’ that enriches the children’s learning experiences.
As always, members are very welcome to these events and, in most cases, non-member guests can also attend. Normally free of charge with light refreshments, they all qualify for Continued Professional Development (CPD) certification. Support your Institute and Branch Committee by attending these events which are designed to improve your overall knowledge of the highways industry, regardless of your current professional role.
More events are being organised. As ever, regularly check this page for information.
